
Catherine Gemmato-Smith
Catherine Gemmato-Smith is the wife of founding attorney David Randolph Smith. They met in 1972 during undergraduate studies at Harvard, where she majored in Classics (A.B. cum laude) 1976. After graduation, Catherine pursued her MBA and Master of Accounting from Rice University and went on to work as a healthcare investment banker for 27 years. In 2009, she retired and began to assist David at DRS Law.
Over the years her role has grown and now she is responsible for a wide range of duties at the firm. In addition to managing the firm’s accounting, she also speaks with potential clients about their cases and manages active cases; making sure they are moving along expeditiously.
Due to her healthcare background, she excels in medical malpractice and defective medical device and drug cases. She particularly enjoys analyzing the medical records for a potential case and finding the right medical experts.
Catherine is very active in her community and has been on the Board of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee and the YMCA Foundation since 2010. She is on the Board of the Nashville Ballet and currently serves as President of the Nashville Ballet Foundation.
As a fitness enthusiast, she loves yoga, barre classes, and Peloton, in addition to her daily five-mile walks.
Her favorite moments are spent with her family, especially her four grandchildren.
